Colonial Hotel
Hotel Colonial in Granada is the place where to stay in Nicaragua for your vacations and it is your perfect base to explore this wonderful country. On the shore of the Lake Nicaragua, Granada is the oldest colonial city in the new world.
The Hotel Colonial was built all new en 1999, created having in mind the Colonial Style from the oldest houses in Granada. The hotel was opened on June 1st of 2000. Our rooms have a king size bed or two queen size bed, air conditioned, private bathroom, cable TV, radio, clock, direct phone, excellent bilingual trained staff and all the comfort that a four star hotel can offer.
Alhambra Hotel
The Hotel Alhambra is located in the heart of the historical center of Granada, the oldest colonial city in the mainland of the Western Hemisphere. The city was founded in 1524 by the Spanish conqueror Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba. It is located on the shores of Lake Nicaragua and next to Volcano Mombacho. Lake Nicaragua is the second largest lake in Latin America and is the only in the world that has sharks and other seawater fishes. The lake is connected to the Caribbean Sea thru the Rio San Juan. During the 1600's and 1700's, the city of Granada was sacked and burned many times by Dutch and British pirates who entered thru the Rio San Juan. Last destruction was in 1856 by U.S. invader William Walker, who became President of Nicaragua for two years before being defeated and left leaving the city in flames. 56 rooms. 2 stories. Built in 1954. Renovated in 2001.
