Car rental agencies abound in San Jose. Renting a car in the  high season ( from December to April) costs between $45.00 a day for a standard  car and $70.00 a day for a four wheel drive car, including insurance. For the  low season the rates are between $35.00 a day for a standard car and $64.00 for  a four wheel drive car. During the high season you must reserve the vehicle in  advance. Many roads become impassable for a regular car during the green season,  and rental car agencies will tell you if you need a four wheel drive car. A  major credit card or a $500.00 to $1000.00 deposit for the deductible is  required. All cars carry the "Collision Damage Waver".
